The world needs you, God needs you

Have you ever felt insignificant? Perhaps you've asked yourself, “What difference can I possibly make?” It's a question that has quietly crept into all of our hearts at some point. In a world that often celebrates the loudest voices, the most followed influencers, and the most dramatic headlines, it's easy to feel like your life is small, like your contribution doesn’t matter. But let me say this clearly: the world needs you. God needs you. Not just the idea of you, or the perfect version of you you think you should be – but you, as you are, right now.

It’s a truth that echoes throughout the Bible. God has always used ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Moses had a stutter. David was the youngest in his family and overlooked by everyone. Esther was a young woman caught in the wrong place at the wrong time – or so it seemed. The disciples? A ragtag group of fishermen, tax collectors, and nobodies. And yet, God said, “I want you.” He didn’t wait for them to be polished, to have their theology sorted, or to have their act together. He called them, because He knew something they didn’t yet realise – that they were made for a purpose.

And so are you.

You see, God created you uniquely, deliberately, and with infinite care. You are not an accident or a coincidence. Psalm 139 tells us that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”, that God knit us together in our mother’s womb. You might think, “Well, I’ve made a mess of things,” or “I’m not particularly gifted,” but the good news is that God’s calling on your life isn’t based on your perfection – it’s based on His love. And that love is constant, unshakeable, and unfailing.

The world is full of people who are hurting. There are those searching for hope, for meaning, for someone to simply see them. And here you are – full of stories, lessons, gifts, experiences, and even scars that God can use to bring light into dark places. You might not have a platform, but you have presence. You might not be famous, but you can be faithful. It’s the little things, often unnoticed, that bring the most powerful change. A listening ear. A kind word. A small act of generosity. A refusal to join in with gossip. These are the seeds of love that grow into mighty trees.

Jesus didn’t say, “Go and make followers on social media.” He said, “Go and make disciples.” And discipleship begins with simply showing up. Being present. Loving well. Speaking truth. Living with integrity and kindness in a way that causes people to ask questions. We don’t need to be spectacular; we need to be surrendered. And when we are, God does the rest.

You might think, “Surely God doesn’t need me.” But God, in His wisdom and grace, chooses to work through us. The Bible says we are Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. That’s an incredible thought, isn’t it? That the God of the universe is reaching out to people – through you. Through your smile. Through your story. Through your time and attention.

In Ephesians 2:10, Paul reminds us that we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. That means your life has meaning. Not someday, when everything is sorted – but today. Right now. In your workplace, your street, your family, your friendships, your church, your community. The question isn’t whether God can use you. The question is – are you willing?

So don’t believe the lie that your life doesn’t count. Don’t buy into the myth that you have nothing to offer. You are called. You are chosen. You are equipped – not by your own strength, but by the Spirit of God who lives in you. The world needs what only you can bring. And God – in His astonishing love – has chosen you to be a part of His unfolding story.

So go on. Live boldly. Love deeply. Speak kindly. Trust fully. The world needs you. God needs you. And you are ready, whether you feel it or not.

Go and make a difference today

Church on Sunday at Strodes College, Egham

welcome 2

Our Sunday service starts at 11:00 a.m. and typically lasts about 90 minutes.

We start each service with lively worship with songs from around the world, followed by inspired Bible-based teaching. All our sermons are recorded and are available as a podcast after the service.

We have a monthly cycle of Sunday services, with our Communion Service being on the first Sunday of each month and an All-Age All-Nation Service on the second Sunday of each month. Our other Sunday services include Spirit-focused and teaching services.

We have consciously adopted being a blended church that is both for those online and face-to-face. You are welcome to join us on Livestream or via Facebook, Linkedin, YouTube, or X (Twitter), or you can catch up and watch the recordings later.

Visiting with children?

Everyone is welcome at RCF. We encourage everyone, young and old, to join the service. We have Sunday School, which starts after worship and runs during the sermon for 30 to 40 minutes for children aged 4 to 12. On the second Sunday of each month, we have a shorter All-Aged All Nations Service, where the children stay for the worship and the sermon.
